Let me be that I am and seek not to alter me

How is your pregnancy going?

Are your emotions all over the place? Happy one minute, anxious or tearful the next?
Does your body feel different? Is it behaving in an alien way to how it does normally?

Pregnancy is not an illness, it’s a normal healthy state of being. However that doesn’t mean it’s a constantly blissful experience! It’s a time of change, a transition from one state of being to another.

As a Mum-to-be you are probably trying to be as healthy and natural as possible, avoiding harsh chemicals and medicines unless absolutely necessary. I remember constantly questioning whether what I was doing would be ok for the baby.

Homeopathy can be used effectively by everyone, from babies and children to adults, including women during pregnancy. Homeopathic medicines promote the body’s natural ability to heal. When prescribed appropriately, they are safe, non-toxic and non-addictive. They can be taken alongside drugs prescribed by your doctor and will not interfere with their beneficial action.

It’s normal to struggle with something during pregnancy

Even if this is a longed for event, most Mums-to-be struggle with something during the 40 weeks it takes to cook a baby!

I remember thinking I couldn’t trust my body to behave in its normal manner – one minute I would be fine standing on the tube into work, and the next someone would be helping me up from the floor! Then I couldn’t bare the sight of food but would be ravenously hungry 10 seconds later! Happy and laughing one minute and then sobbing the next. My emotions were fickle and ever changing.

Luckily, as a Midwife I knew that the body could throw out odd symptoms and because I was working within a unit with a holistic approach to care, I witnessed the effectiveness of homeopathy at helping some women cope.

Homeopathy used during pregnancy

Although using homeopathy during pregnancy is still a fairly unusual thing in the UK, that is not true in other countries. Information recorded in 2004 shows that in France 62% of French mothers used homeopathic medicines in the previous 12 months and 94.5% of French pharmacists were recorded as advising pregnant women to use homeopathic medicines.*

Commonly experienced discomforts including morning sickness, heartburn, swollen ankles, varicose veins and changeable moods. These may be alleviated by homeopathic remedies. GPs and midwives often have nothing to help you cope with these ailments and they are all pushed for time which can sometimes leave you feeling helpless and not knowing where to turn.

Pregnancy is a time of many psychological changes: however much the pregnancy is wanted it is still a time of massive transition

Homeopathic consultations for pregnant women

A homeopathic consultation lasts between 1 – 2 hours which gives plenty of time to air any worries both physical and emotional. I’m lucky that my midwifery background gives me technical knowledge but having been a Mother myself, I can also relate to your personal experiences.

I love working with pregnant women and their families. We meet regularly, roughly every 4-6 weeks, and chat about any concerns you have and discuss ways to help you. I also offer sessions on remedies to use during labour and those early post natal weeks. Its always such a joy when Mums and Dads come back to see me with with their bundles of joy.

If you would like to chat about any pregnancy issues then please get in touch.

I have to say, the Labour kit worked really well! We were impressed! It really helped me to be calm and accept before and during my c-section. Also, it was a key tool during the first weeks of my recovering process.
